As the New Years starts I have made a pretty big resolution - get as many animals adopted as possible using photography and my resources and shed light on those animals that were adopted. Their stories are just as important, if not, extremely important. Adopting has a small stigma attached along with it, "what if the animal I'm adopting turns out to be mean, a tyrant or attacks me? I don't know their story." My purpose is to express those stories, so show that most adoptable animals are not mean, a tyrant or attacks you (okay, maybe with some kisses hopefully). In doing so, I will be offering every session for free with the exception of a donation to Heavenly Paws Satellite Adoptions and The Last Dog Rescue. Kicking off this exciting new adventure in my experience as a photographer, I bring you the story of Angela, Meeha and Lila. Meeha and Lila were a little timid in the studio, but they were so sweet and loved their momma so much! You will read as much in her story which brought mega tears to my eyes as a fellow adoption momma I can relate how much they've saved my life. Without further adieu, here is their story (grab an entire box of tissues, I know I had to!):

"In 2012, I was buying my first house when my best friend said to me "you've got all this space, you need a friend for company". At the Lebanon Humane shelter, Lila chose me. She wouldn't let anyone else hold her. The shelter told me she was a male, so I chose the name Grigio, grey in Italian. Two days later the vet told me I had a female. Who knew that 99% of tri-colored cats were female?! She quickly became my shadow, my snuggle buddy and my kid. I never felt so much love for an animal.

In 2015, I had been diagnosed with cancer and my choice of having a biological child was in jeopardy. I was beginning to feel a void and a spontaneous behavior to fill it. One afternoon, May 2016, while my surgeon was running late for an appointment, I saw a Facebook post of a friend who's cat had an unexpected litter. That's when I first laid eyes on Meeha. Meeha was the only female and the runt of the litter. She instantly won me over and at our first visit, when she was no bigger than my hand, she pounced her way over to me. I knew instantly I wanted to name her Meeha, for Mija in Spanish means my love, my daughter.. I just put the usual American spelling on it. She's a happy fat cat that sleeps on my face and is at least three feet long stretched from paw to paw. Certainly no longer a runt. It took eight months for my baby girls to adjust. I lie, it took eight months for Lila to adjust to this nuisance I had brought home. Little did either know, I was about to bring home another girl.. a pup named Sophie!

Since then, we've dubbed the name "the house of girls". I wouldn't change anything about the blessings they've become. I cry when I think of how much I love them and feel whole because I've gotten the kids the Lord had planned for me in the end."
