Luna the Tuna

I have never had a kitten. I've held them, fed them and snuggled them, but I never actually LIVED with a kitten. Until now. She was born at the end of April in the middle of the night. When I saw her dirty little face I knew she was meant for me. As she and her siblings grew, she developed a stronger, bolder personality when it came to humans. Always playing, always the first to greet you beside her momma; ready to explore any new possibility.

The closer the time came to bring her home, my wonderful neighbor (whom had the kittens) left me bring her over every few days for a few hours just to let my other cat get used to her scent and to minimize any and (hopefully) all altercations they may have. Nevie (who I will write about later) was just not really into it, obviously. She was the queen of the house, she was her momma's apple to her eye and she had to start sharing. Eventually, after I finally brought the kitten home Nevie got used to her. They slowly became best friends, playing, grooming and even eating together! I hadn't named her yet because nothing seemed to stick. She was too fierce, too bold, too grey and too white. I went through Lola, Tuna, Nola, and on and on. Until one day perusing facebook my eye caught a name - Luna. Luna, as we all know, means moon and she sure had the colors to match! It just seemed right, it fit.

It is now two weeks later from the day I first brought her home and she is constantly explore, scratching (ugh!), eating, sleeping and just an even bigger ball of fire than when she was just a few weeks old. They play together, eat together, sleep in the same cat tree and look for each other when they can't find the other. She also brought so much happiness and life into my home! Not that Nevie didn't, she is still the apple to my little eye and the queen of the house, but there is something about Luna that just makes everyone who meets her happy. She is my cure to a bad day, the snuggler and the best toy smuggler there is. I am so happy to be a kitty mom to such a spunky, sweet little girl.

xoxo

Amanda
